JOSHUA SALTER
Baritone
BIOGRAPHY
Australian baritone Joshua Salter studied in Sydney and Newcastle before moving to Germany.
Joshua was a finalist in the German-Australian Opera Scholarship Wiesbaden, the Zenaida Piontkovsky Memorial Scholarship, and the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Awards.
In Germany Joshua sang the role of Papageno/DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at the Andreaskirche Wannsee, and Mydas/DIE SCHÖNE GALATHÉE for the Choriner Opernsommer Festival in Eberswalde.
In 2021 he made his debut as Belcore / L’ELISIR D’AMORE (Der Liebestrank) with the Oper Oder Spree Festival.
Joshua has sung as a Guest in the Chorus of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin, and is a member of the Extrachorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he has sung under the baton of such conductors as Christian Thielemann, Sir Donald Runnicles, and Philippe Jordan.

In Australia he performed the roles of Guglielmo / COSÌ FAN TUTTE, Papageno / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and Schaunard / LA BOHÈME. Joshua also played Masetto / DON GIOVANNI and Dr. Cajus / DIE LUSTIGEN WEIBER VON WINDSOR.
In 2018 Joshua attended the Berlin Opera Academy with the support of the Wagner Society in New South Wales and the Opera and Arts Support Group and performed the role of Peter (the father) / HÄNSEL UND GRETEL.
Joshua also attended the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School on a scholarship in 2016 and played the roles of Orfeo / ORFEO ED EURYDICE and Jupiter / ORPHEUS IN DER UNTERWELT.
He has given many concerts as a baritone soloist, including Handel / THE MESSIAH for the National Trust in Sydney, Mozart / REQUIEM K.626 with the Newcastle University Choir, Faure / REQUIEM for the Illawarra Choral Society and Haydn / THE CREATION with Avondale College in Sydney.

TEACHING
I am currently offering lessons for voice and musicianship.
My students have worked in professional productions (Opera Australia's Werther, La Boheme, Wozzeck, and School of Rock) and others have gone on to study at Australia's leading music institutions. (Sydney Conservatorium, NIDA, Griffith University).
My lessons focus on building a solid technical foundation.
I can help with:
-Preparing students for examinations.
-Classical, Music Theatre, and Contemporary styles.
-Working with adolescent voices.
-Singer/Songwriters looking to improve their vocals.
